Keep today’s to-do list visible on your iPhone

Give today’s few priorities a place you will see between apps. A Sticky Widgets checklist is a simple way to keep your next actions visible while your larger plans stay in the tools you already use.

How to do it

  1. Pick three priorities

Choose a small number of actions you want to finish today. Write them with verbs and a clear end point.

  2. Create a Today checklist

Put each action into its own row in a list note named ‘Today.’ Keep broad project plans in your usual planning tool.

  3. Assign a visible widget

Place a Sticky Widgets widget on the Home Screen page you use most and choose Today in its settings.

  4. Review and replace the list

Check off finished items on a supported system. At the end of the day, edit the note deliberately rather than letting yesterday’s unfinished list grow forever.

Use a daily list as a view, not a second inbox

A widget is valuable because it stays short enough to scan. If every incoming task lands there, the important items become harder to distinguish.

Keep a longer backlog wherever you already manage it, then copy the few actions you want in view into Today. Sticky Widgets does not automatically mirror another task manager’s database.

Write the next action instead of the project name

‘Presentation’ describes a project. ‘Draft the opening slide’ describes an action. The latter tells you what to do when you have a few minutes and gives you a clear reason to check a box.

When an action is finished, choose the next one consciously. You can edit the note by tapping the widget, which is useful when the day changes and your original list no longer fits.

Choose a notification when timing matters

A visible to-do item helps when you look at your Home Screen. It does not guarantee that you will see it at a particular hour. For a time-sensitive task, use a scheduled reminder and confirm its permissions.

Keep critical deadlines in the calendar or reminder system you trust. The widget is an additional visible cue, not a promise that every obligation will be handled automatically.

Common questions

Does the list reset itself every morning?

This workflow is a list you review and edit yourself. Automatic daily resets are not promised here.

Can I use it alongside another task app?

Yes. Keep your larger plan there and use Sticky Widgets for the small set of actions you want visible. This is a manual workflow, not a connected integration.

Can I check tasks off without opening the app?

Supported Home Screen checklist widgets provide interactive item controls. Open the app for editing or longer lists.
